Alex Winters is a Texas-based singer-songwriter whose dark alt-rock sound conjures equal parts spell and storm. Her raw, confessional lyrics are like a lightning bolt that strikes the border between vulnerability and power - a reminder that there is beauty in breaking and strength in survival. "I’ve been through some absurd shit and have come out on the other side stronger and tougher.”
Born in Seattle, the cradle of grunge, Alex grew up navigating the chaos of a fractured home and the shadows cast by a stepmother’s abuse. She found refuge in poetry and guitar at twelve, weaving words and melodies into the first sparks of the songwriter she would become. By 15, she left home to carve her own path.
Now rooted in Austin, Alex has become a torchbearer for resilience in the local scene. She founded a songwriter’s group for emerging artists, won Luna Guitar’s Shining Star Contest in 2012, and in 2019 her song “Silent Storm” earned both a win in the Corpus Christi Songwriters Contest and Melody of the Year. Beyond her own work, she has produced for fellow artists, including Dan Guevara’s 2024 release Lazy Days.
Alex’s sound is a spellbook of influences: Paramore’s fire, Sheryl Crow’s grit, and the haunting powers of Ann Wilson and Amy Lee. Her songs are equal parts confessional diary and rock incantation, infused with the themes of resilience and self-determination in her Grace Potter-esque lyrics.
In 2026, Alex Winters is set to release a string of singles with London-based label The Animal Farm. Produced as an online collaboration with Alex working in her studio in Austin and producer Mat Leppanen in London, the tracks showcase an emerging artist confident in her ability to tell real life stories that resonate across generations.
